Reiki

Reiki is a special form of natural healing, alternative medicine, and self-care that originated in Japan in the early 1900’s by Makao Usui. The word “Rei” means guided or intention and “Ki” translates to life force energy. Some individuals explain a reiki treatment feeling similar to an acupuncture treatment without the needles. Qi (pronounced chi) in Traditional Chinese Medicine & Philosophy also translates to life force energy.

Reiki is facilitated by a practitioner gently placing their hands on or above the recipient’s shoulder’s or the body’s 7 main energy centers known as chakras and guiding life force energy to the recipient. It is meditative, peaceful, and memorable. It has been found to help relieve tension and pain, reduce stress and anxiety, deepen relaxation, and ultimately encourage natural healing. Many individuals express feeling lighter, grounded, and connected after a reiki treatment.

Our energetic health is often reflective and directly connected to our emotional and physical health. This is why practices like reiki, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture, and meditation have all been linked to reducing stress and physical pain at the same time. If your energetic health is low or blocked, you may feel anxious, stuck, or exhausted. Reiki can help clear energetic blockages by creating a safe container to release heavy energy or emotions that may be trapped inside. Reiki is one of many ways to release and receive energy to come back into balance and healthy vibration. When our energy is balanced and flowing, we are moving freely through life, connected to ourselves and everything around us. When our energy is balanced we are calm, focused, and capable.

Reiki treatments can be experienced one on one, long distance, or even in small groups. Reiki is a practice that anyone can learn and facilitate themselves, too. It can be practiced on animals and even sent to different parts of the world.

Reiki falls under the umbrella known as The Healing Arts; alternative and natural healing methods. Aromatherapy, hypnosis, crystal balancing, craniosacral therapy, sound therapy, acupressure, and reflexology are some other holistic practices known for creating and sustaining wellness and wholebeing, too. Each of these practices compliment one another and aim for the very same goal, wellness.
